A new eSquiggles product will be released in the 2nd quarter of 2010. This product, eSquiggles Field Service Management, will target field service companies who have a requirement to mobilise their workforce. The product, available in a number of versions, will allow job and resource management, remote data capture by field workers including time and parts used on jobs and the ability to integrate to Sage Line 50.
Advance Cleaning is one of the UK’s leading contract cleaning specialists with a number of major contracts including window cleaning at the ‘Gherkin’ building in London. Providing services such as rope access cleaning requires high levels of training and adhering to stringent health and safety procedures. Legal obligations, increased levels of onsite training and the need for accuracy around record keeping led to a move to electronic working.
This month has seen the launch of the Sage Integration module, a core offering within the eSquiggles product set. Extensive trials have shown potential for significant cost and time savings by ‘joining up’ the data flow between eSquiggles and the Sage Accounts software. The Sage Integration module provides seamless working between eSquiggles and Sage. It allows staff to download invoice and billing related data from eSquiggles into Sage electronically and in the required format. No re-keying is required and invoices are created and populated automatically with data from eSquiggles, such as parts used, labour costs and ad-hoc expenses. Accurately recording this type of data and costs can be key to resolving any invoicing disputes around proof of activity, proof of man-time billed, etc.. There is also less room for error in the invoice detail as manual re-keying is eliminated. Invoices are created and submitted more quickly, therefore improving cash flow and revenue into your organisation. The possibility of paperwork going missing and revenue/invoicing opportunities being lost are removed.

With major clients on board for its legionella and water testing services, it was essential that the company had the technical infrastructure in place to fulfil contracts quickly, efficiently, yet with high levels of customer service.
For any organisation with large numbers of staff or members of the public entering its buildings and facilities, risk assessment should be a priority. Risk assessments are key requirements of the Health & Safety at Work Act ~ recording and reporting of risk assessment data accurately is crucial. In addition, the new Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act 2007 and the Health & Safety Offences and Penalties Act 2008 have increased penalties on those organisations who have failed to safeguard their employees’ and visitors’ health and safety.
Chardfm, a key user of eSquiggles, has been announced as winner of the e-Business Award during the 2009 PFM Awards. This award was based on a technology integration project which ‘joins up’ the key systems Chardfm has invested in, including the eSquiggles data collection software, FSI CAFM system, Northgate vehicle monitoring tracker system, Direct Call telecoms platform and the Veecom Systems mobile platform. This integration project is key to the Chardfm strategy for ‘connected fm thinking’ and innovative, customer focused FM service provision.
Western Environmental has recently gone live with the eSquiggles risk assessment software. Western first trialled eSquiggles to automate water testing surveys and legionella risk assessments.

eSquiggles is co-hosting a Risk Assessment seminar in Glasgow on the 29th September. The seminar will outline the legislative framework around risk assessment and how technology such as eSquiggles can improve data collection, enhance management reporting and help achieve legislative compliance. Attendance is free.
A new version of eSquiggles will available as of 25th July, which includes a number of new features and enhancements. For current users this will allow an automated update to the device software.
