System Requirements

System Requirements

  1. eSquiggles Mobile is only supported on certain versions of Windows Mobile (see full requirements for details).
  2. Before you can install the application you must have installed the latest version of Active Sync (windows XP) or Device Sync Center (Vista)
  3. Please ensure your device is connected to your PC and a partnership is created (guest partnership is fine)
  4. The device must have at least ten megabytes of free space for the installation to complete successfully
  5. Sql mobile should be installed on the device and not the storage card – this is included in our installer but your device may already have it installed

eSquiggles Mobile Installation

If you are planning to install mutliple devices please contact our support team via email or on 0141 352 2280 for assistance. There are advanced methods for installing and managing multiple devices by downloading the CABs to a PC and distributing accordingly.

For a single installation:

Please ensure your device has an active internet connection.  To do this, try the following:

  1. Open Internet Explorer on your device
  2. Type www.google.com into the address bar.  If the Google home page is displayed then your connection is working if not then please try www.msn.com. If this fails there may be something wrong with your internet connection. Check your connection settings and if this does not correct the problem please contact your mobile internet service provider or contact us for assistance.

Install eSquiggles using the CAB files

  1. If the interent connection is working, please now browse to this page on your device
  2. http://application.esquiggles.com/mobileupdatefiles/Downloads.html
  3. This page will display links to the various CAB files for installing eSquiggles and it’s dependencies.
  4. Click on the link to download the esquiggles Application.  When the download has compelted, the cab will execute immediately and install the application to your device.  You should get a confirmation that the application installed successfully.
  5. If you get an error message, please take a note of this and contact us.

Running eSquiggles

When the application has been installed, please configure user credentials on the device

  1. Start the eSquiggles Mobile application (Start -> Programs -> eSquiggles)
  2. Select the Sync Settings button
  3. Enter the same username and password which you used to access this esquiggles application website
  4. Enter the Server as application.esquiggles.com
  5. Click the Sync button

Any Jobs assigned to you will now be downloaded to your device for completion.  Refer to the help system and quickstarts for more details.

eSquiggles Dependencies

Some devices may require other dependencies to be installed, although most of the newer devices will already have these installed.  However, if required the process is the same as above except that you are clicking on a different link.
To check if the dependencies are installed on your device please do the following:

  1. From the home page on Windows mobile, select Start – Settings
  2. Select the “system” tab
  3. Select “Remove Programs”
  4. Inspect the list of programs installed -
  5. You should have “Microsoft .Net CF 3.5″ and “SQLServerCompact 3.5 Core” – if either of these are missing then please follow the CAB install instructions but select the relevant cabs for install.

eSquiggles Updates

When installed, eSquiggles will automatically manage device updates and will inform the user when an update is available.

Though, if required you can make eSquiggles manually check for a software update by following these steps:

  1. Reset the device

    This can normally be achieved by pressing a small pin-hole button on the bottom of the device or by manually powering the device on and off. (*Note – these options differ depending on device model, please reference your devices documentation if in doubt)

  2. Launch eSquiggles

    Once the device has been fully reset, re-launch eSquiggles by clicking (Start -> Programs -> eSquiggles).

  3. Select “Check for Updates

    Once eSquiggles has started up and is at the logon screen you can force eSquiggles to check for updated by selecting the option (Options -> Check For Updates) if not already checked.

  4. Start eSquiggles

    After you’ve checked this option, start eSquiggles by clicking the ‘Start’ button located at the bottom left hand side. If an update is available a dialog will be displayed indicating that either a required or optional update is available – clicking ‘Yes’ on this dialog will download and install the latest eSquiggles software automatically.

If this procedure does not successfully update eSquiggles, the system can be forced to re-download and install the latest version of eSquiggles. To do this repeat the procedure listed above, but at step three select the option (Options -> Force Update) opposed to check for updates, and start eSquiggles as listed within step 4. After pressing ‘Start’ a dialog will display informing you that a required update is available – clicking ‘Yes’ to this will re-download and install the latest version of eSquiggles automatically.
